About Us

The Child and Family Research Institute is situated on the campus of BC Children's Hospital and BC Women's Hospital & Health Care Centre (agencies of the Provincial Health Services Authority). It is home to more than 200 researchers and over 300 trainees. CFRI works in close partnership with the University of British Columbia and the BC Children's Hospital Foundation.
The trainees benefit from having access to the largest clinical service of its kind in Canada. Coupled with the state-of-the-art wet laboratories at the Institute, trainees have a rich academic environment, whether they are bench scientists, clinician scientists, or clinicians.
The goal of the Research Education Office at CFRI is to support the development of an enriched, multidisciplinary learning environment by providing opportunities for trainees, students, and clinical research coordinators to build their research skills and knowledge.
Through a curriculum of workshops, short courses, and seminars, the Research Education Office provides ongoing professional development opportunities for the research community onsite. Along with details of our training events and seminars, the website includes online registration and other web-based resources. You will also find profiles of our trainees with details of their research program, their publications, and awards.
