Graduate Studentships

The Child & Family Research Institute offers a variety of studentships to highly qualified trainees pursuing a research career in any health related research area that has direct relevance to the health of children, adolescents or women. The application deadline is January 18th.

Funding Opportunities

CFRI Graduate Studentship - $20,000/year (3 awards/year)
Masters or doctoral students undertaking full time research in any health related research area that has direct relevance to the health of children, adolescents or women.

Includes CFRI Graduate Studentship Partnerships, which are awarded with an expectation that funding from CFRI is matched by the supervisor or from an external award. $10,000/year (3-4 awards/year)

CFRI NeuroDevNet Graduate Studentship  - $20,000/year (1 award/year)
Doctoral students whose supervisor is a member of NeuroDevNet and whose research training reflects the training mission of NeuroDevNet (http://www.neurodevnet.ca/training).

Applicants must arrange to discuss their application with the Training and Education Programs Manager (
training@neurodevnet.ca) at least two weeks prior to the application due date.

CFRI Immunity in Health & Disease Graduate Studentships - $20,000/year (1 award/year)
Masters or doctoral students undertaking full time research in the area of immunology and/or infectious or inflammatory diseases whose supervisor has a minimum of 50% membership in the Immunity in Health & Disease cluster.

CFRI Canucks for Kids Graduate - $20,000/year (1 award/year)
Masters or doctoral students undertaking full time research that directly relates to understanding the causes of diabetes and/or improving treatment whose supervisor has a minimum of 50% membership in the Diabetes research cluster.

Michael Cuccione Graduate Studentship - $25,000/year (1 award/year)
Masters or doctoral students undertaking full time research in the area of childhood and/or adolescent cancer whose supervisor has a minimum of 50% membership in the Childhood Cancer & Blood Research cluster.

All award application forms are formatted as fillable Adobe PDF's. To use the form the applicant must have the latest version of Adobe Reader. For Mac users, the form is not compatible with Apple’s Preview application but can be opened directly through Adobe Reader. The Research Services Office coordinates the processing of all applications that require signatures by the Faculty of Medicine, Director of Research Services or the University of British Columbia. For more information visit the CFRI website.

Note applicants for CFRI Graduate Studentships & CFRI Postdoctoral Fellowships whose supervisors are in the Faculty of Medicine must also provide a Research Project Information Form (previously known as the Faculty of Medicine Grant Application Cover Sheet).
