The Child & Family Research Institute is committed to the research education and professional developments needs of postdoctoral fellows.
Workshops organized through the Research Education Office are offered on an annual basis and/or as required based on the needs of the current trainee population. The workshops are grouped into three areas: Research Skills, Academic Development, and Professional Life Skills.
The Research Education Outreach (REO) Committee also organizes several research events each year; an annual networking event for trainees, and an education outreach event for high school students.
The Faculty of Medicine Post-Doc Professional Development Team also organizes several workshops each year to help prepare postdocs for employment in academic and non-academic positions. In addition to the workshop the team organizes an annual Career Day which is held at the Child & Family Research Institute every four years.
Additional information, including workshop curriculum, is available in the CFRI Trainee Handbook. Registration for upcoming workshops is available on the event calendar.
A Guide for Postdoctoral Fellows, the handbook for the University of British Columbia's postdoctoral fellows, provides basic information and advice for prospective and current postdocs.
