Research Awards

The Child & Family Research Institute is seeking nominations for the following awards; recognizing trainee achievement in research that is directed at improving the health of children, youth or women.

To nominate a student review the Nomination Form & Guidelines. The deadline for submission of nominations is 4.30 pm on May 15, 2015. 

Outstanding Achievement by a Masters Student

This award recognizes the outstanding achievement of a Masters student supervised by a CFRI member (category 1 or 2), based at the BC Children’s Hospital and/or the BC Women’s Hospital and Health Centre, whose research skills and analytical capacity clearly demonstrate the individual’s potential as a productive member of the scientific community.

Outstanding Achievement by a Doctoral Student

This award recognizes the outstanding achievement of a Doctoral student supervised by a CFRI member (category 1 or 2), based at the BC Children’s Hospital and/or the BC Women’s Hospital and Health Centre, whose demonstrated originality, research ability and a capacity for critical thinking identify the individual as being likely to become a contributing member in the scientific community.

Outstanding Achievement by a Post-Doctoral Fellow

This award recognizes the outstanding achievement of a Post-Doctoral Fellow supervised by a CFRI member (category 1 or 2), based at the BC Children’s Hospital and/or the BC Women’s Hospital and Health Centre, whose high academic achievements, personal leadership qualities and demonstrated research ability show promise of the individual becoming a future leader in health research.  The nominee should be highly motivated with demonstrated intellectual and organizational abilities and be conducting original, independent research.  

Outstanding Achievement by a Resident*

This award recognizes the outstanding achievement of a Resident, based at the BC Children’s Hospital and/or the BC Women’s Hospital and Health Centre, whose scholarly activity, industry and commitment to the research endeavour are an example to other trainees and who has contributed to advances in child, youth or women’s health.   

Outstanding Achievement by a Clinical Sub-specialty Resident or Fellow*

This award recognizes the outstanding achievement of a clinical sub-specialty Resident or Fellow, based at the BC Children’s Hospital and/or the BC Women’s Hospital and Health Centre, whose research initiatives have been pursued in a conscientious, original and competent manner, and who has the potential for academic excellence in their future career in their chosen specialty.

* Residents and Fellows completing a graduate degree within their medical training program must apply for the Outstanding Achievement award in the Masters or Doctoral category.
