Academic Career Development
While "getting the science right" is our first education priority at CFRI, many trainees agree that some of the greatest challenges they face are related not to their research, but rather to their career development.
In the increasingly competitive world of research, trainees require solid skills and knowledge to communicate their work to students and colleagues, funders, potential employers, and a host of multi-sectoral stakeholders.
CFRI's Research Education Program offers courses and workshops for our trainees to gain and sharpen the skills required to make the leap from graduate student to independent researcher and research mentor. Depending on the topic, this training is offered in the form of a short course or as a series of linked workshops to accommodate trainees' needs and schedule.
CFRI's courses and workshops include:
Career Day
Proposal Writing From Start to Finish!
Elements of Language, Style and Visual Thinking
Studentships & Fellowships
Finally Finding Funding
Post Doctoral Fellow Professional Development Series
